Since the first modern downhill race in the United States was staged in 1927, traditional alpine sport clubs have remained authentic bastions of ski and ski racing throughout the world. Dartmouth College’s famous Outing Club and the Appalachian Mountain Club of the early 20th century combined a love for winter and the mountains with a desire to slide fast on snow. As racing evolved from its initial North American origins on Mt. Moosilauke, New Hampshire to the world’s first alpine combined event of slalom and downhilll in the Alberg in 1928 passion, style, and technique have fueled skiing’s storied history of legends and legendary races.
It is with deep consideration of the elements that have shaped alpine sport’s past, present, and future, that Alps & Meters has created the Alpine Combined Jacket. A unique Forged Performance sportswear garment fusing traditional leather with natural down fill technology, the Downhill ‘27 Jacket links the passion of skiing’s first sports clubs with the excitement, panache, and high style of the gentlemanly racing legacy which they created. Proper clothing care begins with reading and following garment care labels, as different fabrics require specific treatments.
Sort laundry by color and fabric type before washing, using cold or warm water for most items to prevent shrinkage and color fading, and reserving hot water for heavily soiled whites and linens.
Turn garments inside out to protect prints and reduce pilling, fasten zippers and buttons to prevent snagging, and use appropriate detergent amounts—too much can leave residue while too little won't clean effectively.
