Proper clothing care begins with reading and following garment care labels, as different fabrics require specific treatments.
Sort laundry by color and fabric type before washing, using cold or warm water for most items to prevent shrinkage and color fading, and reserving hot water for heavily soiled whites and linens.
Turn garments inside out to protect prints and reduce pilling, fasten zippers and buttons to prevent snagging, and use appropriate detergent amounts—too much can leave residue while too little won't clean effectively.
Avoid overloading the washing machine to ensure proper cleaning and rinsing, and consider air-drying delicate items or using low heat in the dryer to extend garment life. Remove clothes promptly after washing to minimize wrinkles, hang or fold items properly for storage, and address stains quickly by blotting rather than rubbing.
Regular maintenance like mending small tears, replacing buttons, and storing seasonal items in breathable containers will help your wardrobe last longer and maintain its appearance.
